Since the first announcement of Season, I have felt that it is a unique and different game than any other game I have seen. From its picturesque world made up of a graphic style similar to oil paints, to the story of its main character who is on a quest for something mysterious. Getting to know the world and everything in it, and documenting it so that her offspring will know what her world was like. Here's a review of Season: A Letter To The Future.

The story of the game without spoilers:

The story takes place in a mysterious context around a girl who lives in a secluded village called Caro, who does not know much about the world. One day, one of the villagers has a dream, and the wise woman of the village interprets it as saying that the “season” is about to end, which means that their world will end. Apparently the "season" in this world refers to the time period in which they live.

A girl embarks on an emotional journey with a single mission. It is documenting the world by recording all the sounds you hear, drawing and photographing scenes that deserve to be photographed or painted. That would be her legacy, which she leaves for those who come after her. It's your job as a player to make sure this legacy is worth the heroine's pain, and to record everything that matters. And the most important thing in every season is the people and how they were.

You will meet citizens of different ages, each with its own fascinating story, and engage in dialogues with them about themselves and explore the distinctive aspects of each personality. All of the dialogues are beautifully and deeply written at the same time. More on that in the features section.

Game content:

The game has a linear environment with the freedom to pick targets. You can get around it on foot or by bicycle.

There is no side content in the game, but basic missions with the ability to explore and document more things.

Documentation tools are your notebook, a microphone to record sounds, and a camera. As for the notebook, she writes the most important notes about the world and lists the pictures she took in what are called Keepsakes. Most of the time you can freely choose which pictures to put in the notebook, but sometimes the game requires you to photograph specific environmental items.

The freedom to explore the world and capture its details however you like allowed players plenty of room for creativity

The game's characters, although few in number, are professionally written. The dialogues with them were the most enjoyable aspect of the game. There is the artist who fears that her work will not be immortalized and that people will forget it. And she wants you to immortalize her by saving her work with pictures and descriptions. There is a mother of a single boy who has lost the father and is living in a state of shock, but they are forced to leave their city with the least possible luggage because it is at risk of drowning due to the collapse of the dam in it. This makes them sad because they will have to leave behind all of their father's belongings that reminded them of him.

The vocal performance and the music were appropriate for the sad and joyful atmosphere at the same time. The world is ending, so you will feel sad in the tone of the heroine's speech but also happy that she is discovering the world and its beauty for the first time. It is the natural mixture of human feelings which no dictionary can define in short words.

The gameplay is fun and the bike ride is very smooth.

The price of the game is $ 25, which is quite appropriate for the amount of game content that extends to 4-6 hours of play.
