The Outlast Trials is a survival psychological horror video game developed and published by Red Barrels. This is the third installment of the Outlast series, which serves as a prequel to the first two games and test subjects in a mysterious Cold War experiment in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1985. Red Barrels invites you to experience incredible horror, this time with friends. Whether you go through the trials alone or in a team, if you survive long enough and complete the cure, Morkoff will happily let you leave...but will you be the same?

Set in the Cold War era, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good guys at the Morkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of mistrust, fear and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested and your sanity crushed. All in the name of progress, science and profit.

Survival: Solo or Co-op

You are all Morkov prisoners trapped inside their facilities. You can choose to complete the trials on your own or you can tackle them in a team of 2, 3 or 4 players.

Coop is never forced when it comes to prescriptive goals but working together can be very beneficial.

No matter how many players are in your group, it's about staying in and out.

Ultimately, your goal is to complete the Morkoff cure and earn the right to return to society. To do this, you must complete Trials and MK Challenges.

Trials are immersive story based therapies that take a certain amount of time to complete. Mk-Challenges are shorter treats that occur in a modified or redesigned section of the existing map.

Hide or fly

In pure Outlast fashion, the core gameplay involves avoiding enemies, hiding from them, and trying to escape. Murkoff will provide tools you can use to increase your stealth capabilities, create escape opportunities, slow down enemies, and more. However, you will have to earn these tools and work hard to improve them.

Character customization

Customize and create your own patient experience.

Your cell is your home and while you complete the treatment, you can decorate it however you like.

Choose the tools, upgrades and perks that best suit your play style.
