Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is one of many games today that try to emulate the Souls game idea by restructuring it in 2D, but this one in particular manages to stand out from the crowd.

This game manages to uniquely present itself thanks to the distinctive art direction, clean and flawless gameplay, not forgetting the plot that is clear and able to prove itself without getting players into mazes to search for the story between the lines.

We also cannot help but say that Ender Lililes is considered the icon of the new genre of games after the legend that made this genre a name in modern gaming history, Hollow Knight.

Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is available now on PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and in the future on PS5. (Tested on Xbox Series X/S).
Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights review...
An uninnovative experience, but rich in beauty and interest
Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is a 2D adventure game in the style of Metroidvania games like the Ori series. In it, players explore the mysteries of a kingdom devastated by a deadly flood in a dark, dark world.

The game takes place in the dark Finistera, a beautiful dark world with royal castles, flooded forests and secret underground areas similar to the Souls games. On the agonizing journey through these regions, many fearsome and powerful enemies await us.

It stars Lily, who wakes up without remembering anything and must search the world to find out who she is and what happened to her, only to wake up in such a desolate, lost place.

Helping you in this task is a large detailed map that shows you all the interconnected and different areas and intertwined paths that you will need to pass through more than once to obtain new skills and overcome the obstacles in them, as is the case in this type of game.

The game initially impressed us with its beautiful designs, detailed characters, smooth animations, and dark tones that blend nicely with the colors of the heroine and the rest of the main characters.

The sad and heartwarming music adds to such a beautiful funeral art painting, and the sound effects are also good and powerful and varied between blows, bombs, explosions and other sounds that encourage enthusiasm and immersion.

The level designs are very cool, and there are many secrets to explore and observe, but fortunately the percentage of your completion of each area is indicated in various colors depending on the type of secrets or areas that you have not yet unlocked.

All over the world we will have to face different enemies that have a resistance index that must be reduced first in order to be able to eliminate them like the game Sekiro, and it is important to take this point into account and continue to attack them quickly and without interruption.

If we let time pass trying to evade them, the energy bar will recover and we won't be able to get a similar chance, so the game encourages players to have constant close encounters rather than staying away most of the time.
In Ender Lilies, the heroine can perform different moves such as jumping, dodging and healing prayers, and over time we can get new features such as double jumping, diving and more movements that are useful for both combat and expeditions.

We have to be attentive most of the time, aware of each enemy's movement pattern, but fortunately Lily does not fight alone, but is able to antagonize many lives to help her defeat her enemies with many different uses.

We can equip ourselves with two groups of six spirits, each group consisting of three different spirits, and alternate between them when we need them, and by defeating bosses, we will gain the abilities of various spirits (there are 26 in total) including magic, bow and sword techniques.

These skills are what give the player the ability to customize and define their character build structure, thus creating different strategies depending on the situation, plus these skills can be improved to make them more powerful and impactful.

The customization system also includes Relics, which can give us some permanent effects when a character is equipped with them, but there are certain limits to how much of them can be placed at any one time.
It should be noted that the story is told based on optional texts incorporated into the description of the weapons, artifacts and lives we obtain, but unlike the Souls games we are told everything important clearly through videos so that you do not have problems understanding the main story threads.

Regarding the difficulty level, which is an important factor in this type of game. We found the challenges to be balanced, never feeling unfair, but always forcing us to think and use new abilities and moves most of the time.

This is because the boss fights (which is one of the aspects we liked most about Ender Lilies) are divided into several phases, with tricky and scary shifts and different moves and counterattacks to do.

The level of difficulty also rises appropriately slowly and steadily depending entirely on your skill level more than the abilities you acquire, so we believe that the game has taken care to address all the drawbacks of this type of game and present it in the best possible guise.

The title will also never force you to favor one approach over another, and you'll likely find the strongest combination of your favorite lives and weapons quickly, and take care of strengthening it right from the start without having to search for more lives or other aids.

Review overview
Overall rating 8.5
Positives
The ability to understand the story without the need to collect its details from many sources
Multiple customization tools that are easy to swap out without re-creating the character from scratch
All endings are also accessible without restarting the game
Beautiful backgrounds and charming audio divisions
Negatives
The game does not add anything new to the Metroidvania genre other than the story
Lots of monster designs get reused most of the time
Summary
8.5Ender lilies have a classic, easily recognizable Metroidvania structure, but manage to impress us with their flawlessly cohesive visual appeal. The game does not add anything new to the genre, but fans of the genre can expect an enchanting experience with an excellent story from start to finish.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is a dark fantasy game in which the player must fight against a group of enemies. It is a role-playing game (RPG) that features a diverse cast of characters and a rich game world to explore.

With somewhat opaque backgrounds covered in vibrant characters and enemies, the 2D graphics style offered in this game can be compared to the modern style displayed in Hollow Knight or Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game features around 20 hours of gameplay, depending on the player's playing style.
Journey to the end of the earth
The story of ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights takes place in a fictional land known as Earth's End, which has turned into a dangerous place filled with raging undead monsters known as the Infected. Using the game's cast of characters, the player must unravel the mystery of the kingdom and the strange rain that has caused it to collapse into a hostile place for life.

Be nocturnal

A visually impressive game with flaws
The art style seen in ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is undeniably visually impressive, with smooth animations and visual effects. Some players have noted that the combat can feel heavy at times, and another issue stems from graphical detail, where the background elements can be easy to confuse with the game's interactive elements.
