Our review of World War Z by Saber Interactive
In December 2017, World War Z was announced for the first time, and now on April 16 of this year, the game was officially released. The game is developed by Saber Interactive and published by Mad Dog Games and Focus Home Interactive. The game was released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The developers of the game had pledged to provide a rich and new game experience based on the idea of the Zombie, with the introduction of huge numbers of enemies that the player faces, so was the game able to fulfill its promises, or is the game just another consumption of the idea of the Zombie, this is what we will learn about through our review of the game .

Game story:
The events of the game are derived from a book of the same name released in 2006, and the areas in the game and the artistic direction in general are based on the well-known American movie of the same name World War Z.

The events of the story take place in 4 cities, New York, Moscow, Palestine and Tokyo, and each of the cities has its own characters, and in general your task is to escape from the zombie hell in each city through some tasks within each city.

In fact, the game did not present a story phase in the true sense. Each city in the game has its own episodes, and within each episode there is a set of parts, and each part presents a simple idea that connects you to the next part without complication or many dialogues.

Also, the characters change in each of the cities, and there is no connection between the events that take place in the cities, so we cannot say that the game offers a story phase in the true sense, where there is a beginning and an end, but we can only say that the events of the game are inspired by the movie and the book only and there is no match between them in terms of story or stages.

Unfortunately, the episodes are not interconnected with each other, making the game experience somewhat empty and stripping some stages and episodes of their importance. For example, you can overlook any stage and not play it because the matter does not affect the gaming experience at all.

Play style:
The game is a third-person shooting game that supports individual and group play, but it is noted that the character is too close to the screen, especially when aiming, and it is good for an update to reset the character's dimensions in relation to the screen.

The game came with a very different style of play, in fact, the current generation has not yet provided a similar gaming experience, and we can compare the gameplay in World War Z to Left 4 Dead from the previous generation.

The game basically depends on the idea of cooperative play for each of the stages consisting of 4 players, and you are one of the four, and even when you play the game alone, the game will complete you for the rest of the team members.

But the value of the game lies in playing with your friends greatly, and the experience alone will be much weaker and far from the case of group play, especially with the low artificial intelligence of the rest of the team members. Certain shelter, even when their health level is reduced The casualty does not use the Medic Kit.

The game tried to provide an online game mode, but unfortunately it was below the level. The online game mode offers you the experience of fighting with no other players and not with zombies, and this is a big difference from the game's orientation. Everyone plays the game to enjoy facing zombies and not confronting ordinary characters.

Each of the cities has its own personalities, and they are 4 personalities to choose from when you start your favorite personal mission. In fact, I did not understand the idea of these personalities, as they are just formal characters. None of them have certain advantages or specific defects. Its bad presentation in the game, after each character you play with, the story of the character is opened and you can view and read the story through the main menu of the game, and the truth is I do not understand this way of presenting the characters even if the developer was satisfied with a few characters but with a tight and interconnected story between cities that shows the background The storyline of the character without compromising the gameplay rather than the presence of a lot of non-living characters.

Before the start of each of the parts in the game, you can choose the class that you prefer to play with, and the game could not put fundamental differences between the different classes, so you find yourself not paying attention to these choices, but this matter is only at the beginning of the game because after every time you play one of the episodes, you get You get experience points and a group of currencies that help you unlock new skills for each class, and certainly when you open a wide range of skills, you can notice the difference between the Classes.

The very interesting part of the gameplay is the number of enemies, where you face really huge numbers of zombies with lots and lots of weapons and ammunition to enter into a violent and bloody experience to a large extent. There are those who spread poisonous gas everywhere.

The game tries to present a set of stages, and each stage has its own map, and you can repeat the map with your friends more than once to upgrade the level of the character and collect coins to update the skills and weapons of the character, which gives the game an excellent replay value, especially when you play it with your friends.

The game has put in each of the stages a set of tasks in an attempt to give the maps a value and an idea. At first glance, you will feel that the tasks are varied and many, but the truth is quite the opposite. In fact, I have no problem with repetition, but the idea is to build the task itself. For example, all the tasks related to protecting a specific area are very enjoyable, and you will not feel bored at all while doing them, unlike the repair tasks that make you bored, but as a reminder, all this boredom It can disappear if you are playing the game with real people then everyone in the team will collect a certain part and you will not feel the same repetition because you will collect one piece unlike if you play alone where you will have to collect all the pieces and so on.

As for the mini-map inside the game, it is very good and shows the locations of the missions accurately, and you will not get tired in reaching any mission, but there is a very strange note inside the game. For example, when you open any door or reload the weapon, the game asks you to press and hold a certain button, and this is very understandable and logical. You start the required movement after the prolonged pressing of the button is completed, not during it.

In fact, the game presented very good game factors, but it is based only on the team play element, and it was better to try to reconcile the idea of group and individual play in order to allow all types of players to enjoy the game.

The graphics in the game:
In fact, the game presented a very distinct and even unexpected graphic level, the details of the game are very accurate and the lights are dazzling, and most importantly of all this is to deal with the huge numbers of zombies without problems with tires or affecting the level of graphics, but some zombies sometimes have some glitches This is very logical in light of these huge numbers of zombies, but as a whole, the graphical experience of the game is very good.

Despite the graphic level of the game, the game world is somewhat dead and you cannot interact with it, so you cannot use any of the things in the world around you, and you cannot push any of the elements, but even worse than that if there are zombies inside a glass room and you shoot at Glass, bullets do not affect the glass and do not pass through it.

Music and audio:
In fact, this matter is the worst in the game, as the sounds in it are generally a problem, from the very similar and improper first sounds of weapons and shots to the repetitive sentences of the very few characters. In addition to the disappearance of the sound at some times from the ground up, or a sudden decrease and increase in the pitch of the voice,

The fact is that the audio in the game needs to be updated very soon.

The game provided a unique gaming experience to be considered the only game of this style on the current generation, but I personally would have preferred to provide story content more related to the book or movie from which the game was derived. But the experience as a whole presented many positives and also some negatives, for which we are waiting for an update to appear.

Advantages
Huge numbers of zombies that you face with a lot of weapons
Very good 'replay' value
Good graphic level
Defects
- Boring and repetitive missions - Non-interactive gameplay environment despite the accuracy of the details - Major issues with the game's audio - Almost no story mode
