9 anime you can watch if you like My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia has seen huge popularity among anime fans, which gives viewers some of the campus excitement we wish we had in the real world, especially with the recent season 6 finale.

And with Season 7 now in production, you might look forward to seeing some other anime series similar to My Hero Academia that takes place in a campus setting, or something with a similar influence. Here are the anime series that we chose for you, which may compensate you a little for the famous anime until the release of the seventh season.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

In Taisho-era Japan, teenage swordsman Tanjiro Kamado returns home from his job selling charcoal to find his entire family killed in a demonic attack except for his younger sister Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon but still shows signs of human thinking and feelings. To avenge his family's death and turn his sister human again, Giyū Tomioka recruits Tanjiro to train with his retired mentor and join the Demon Slayer Corps to protect people from demons.

Demon Slayer is similar to My Hero Academia in that Tanjiro enlists an old swordsman to learn how to become a master demon slayer, even if it takes him two years to master a fighting style and barely pass an exam.

Little Witch Academy

Akko enrolls into Luna Nova Academy, a prestigious all-girl witch school, to train to become a witch like her idol, Shiny Chariot. The problem is that since she doesn't have any magical powers, she struggles to keep up with her classmates in learning witches' skills, especially flying with a broomstick. However, she manages to learn some magical uses thanks to the Shiny Rod that Shiny Chariot left behind.

Despite having the word "Academia" in the title and an art style almost identical to My Hero Academia, Little Witch Academia was produced by Studio Trigger, not Bones. However Akko and Deku were going to become best friends, since the latter didn't have a Quirk ability before meeting his idol All Might and entering UA High School.

One-Punch Man

Saitama is a superhero who, as the title suggests, can take out any opponent with just one punch. But even though he trained to master his power and become one of the greatest heroes in the world, his strength has grown to the point that confrontations with enemies have become too boring for him, so he sets out to find an opponent worth more than one punch.

Created by the creator of Mob Psycho 100 (One), One-Punch Man is very popular among My Hero Academia fans, even though the hero is an adult who faces problems outside of crime-fighting, such as working mundane jobs to make ends meet.

Blue Exorcist

Raised by a Catholic priest alongside his twin brother Yukio, Rin Okumura discovers that he is the son of the demon ruler of the demon kingdom Gehenna, who sent Rin to the human world of Assiah as a child in hopes that he would be able to inhabit his body when he came of age. After witnessing his adoptive father die trying to save him from a demon, Rin enrolls in True Cross Academy to become an exorcist, able to destroy the demon himself with the blow of his sword.

Unlike Deku, Rin was born with powers but was held captive in Kurikara until she was reawakened by an encounter with a demon. But like Deku he attended a prestigious school with good intentions.

Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom has a similar vibe to the MHA anime, but with a big twist. With the Earth endangered after an octopus-like creature destroys 70% of the moon, the misfit students from Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High, who call the entity Koro-sensei, are tasked with killing it by the end of the school year, or else it will destroy the world. Whoever among the students succeeds in killing the octopus teacher will receive 10 billion yen.

Killing Koro-sensei turns out to be difficult because he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, or tentacles, from fast healing to invulnerability to moving super fast, and he actually helps the students become more skilled. The teacher is the only one with superpowers, which makes killing him requires more thought and analysis than physical strength for the students.

Haikyu!!

Shoyo Hinata is determined to become a top volleyball player at Karasuno High after watching a match with the tournament star who is nicknamed the "Little Giant" because he is just as short as he is. Despite his height, he is very athletic and has a high vertical jump, and therefore it does not prevent him from joining the school's volleyball club, but he was the only member of it until he succeeded in convincing some other students to join so that he could train and compete in the tournament.

Haikyu!! One of the best sports anime of the last decade alongside Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club. It delivers the message that conviction, passion and teamwork are more important than size.

Black Clover

Asta is a young orphan boy who dreams of becoming the Wizard King. But there is one problem: he cannot use magic because he was born without any magical abilities. But after he becomes a Magic Knight despite this discrepancy, he manages to summon a book of magic spells using a rare five-leaf clover that grants him the ability to use dwarf swords and counter-magic, giving him the opportunity to challenge his best friend and fellow orphan Yuno to a battle to become the next Wizard King.

Although nothing in Black Clover resembles high school in the Clover Kingdom, Asta is another kid who fits the bill in that he's the only person born without special powers or other abilities until he somehow acquires them once he's older.

Hunter x Hunter

Twelve-year-old Gon aspires to follow in his absent father's footsteps and become a Hunter, an elite class with a license to go anywhere in the world. To achieve this dream he takes the Hunter Exam and makes friends with three other candidates, Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua, to help him find his father who abandoned him as a child.

No one has exactly superpowers in Hunter x Hunter, but they still have a wide range of diverse personalities and some crazy superpower-like skills later on that prove essential to achieving their goals.

Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji Itadori receives a powerful curse named Ryomen Sukuna after swallowing a talisman finger to protect his friends and a wizard from the demon that was carrying it. However, due to the nature of the curse, the magician is required to exorcise evil spirits from it and from the host, i.e. Itadori. To avoid dying from an exorcism, he enrolls in Jujutsu High School to train under Satoru Gojo and locate the other Curse Fingers so he can exorcise himself.

Jujutsu Kaisen has supernatural elements and a darker atmosphere than My Hero Academia, but the ultra-violence makes it stand out even more.
